Older past papers. Before 2000, students in optometry studied PHYS 1999 and those in geomatic engineering took PHYS 1989. These papers are not available electronically.
The Physics Companion (on-line version) A. Fischer-Cripps. This is a good web text, which covers much of the syllabus. It is not free, however. A$10 for access (to all e-books) for one year.
The Cartoon Guide to Physics by L. Gonick and A. Huffman. Stop laughing, this is a really good physics book! It's not a text book----no problems, no references, and it's short on detail---but it's a very good presentation and explanation of much of the material in this course. Although it's out of print, the bookshop has obtained left-overs is selling them at A$31.25.
The Physics Classroom by Tom Henderson. This excellent web site is aimed at high school level, so it only covers a portion of our syllabus, but it may be useful for revision. Highly recommended.
PHYS1111 Fundamentals of Physics by Peter Eyland. This site was created for the introductory physics subject at UNSW. It is extensive and a good educational web site, but the level is different from PHYS1189-1199.
The Physics Hypertextbook by Glenn Elert. It has good sections on waves, and on other sections of the syllabus. It is still under construction, and some sections are incomplete.
