PINET is the Physics Information Network supported by the
American Institute of Physics.
It can be conveniently accessed from the Physics workstation through Internet.
There are no communication charges and the connect charges are fairly nominal.
PINET provides comprehensive databases and information services in
Physics and Astronomy.
These include:
- Advance abstracts: six weeks of abstracts of papers to be published in
120 AIP and Member Society journals.
- Published abstracts: abstracts from all papers published in 120 journals
from 1985 to current in an easily searchable database.
- News and announcements.
- Meetings calendar.
- Jobs in academia and industry. Updated bi-monthly by the AIP and the
American Astronomical Society.
- Electronic mail including binary file transfer capability.
The service has a one time registration fee of $US15, with connect
charges ranging from $US10-$19, depending on the time of day, for
members of one of the AIP's Member or Affiliated Societies, and
$US29-$12.50 for non-members. Payment can be made by Credit Card.
